The Times online reports that in the past year there has been a huge increase in the amount of home based businesses, fuelled by redundancies and the amount of jobs that are available.
According to figures by Enterprise Nation, (the home business website) there are 2.8 million home businesses in the UK generating a combined annual turnover of £284 billion.
The news comes at the start of Global Entrepreneurship week, which for the first time has designated one of the days as Home Enterprise Day.
It's claimed the flexible working hours and cheap running costs are drawing more and more people in.
