The annual e-commerce sales for the retailer has passed the half a billion pound mark for the first time in its history.

In the five weeks leading up to the New Year, John Lewis says internet sales expanded by 42 per cent against figures from the same period of 2009.
Managing director for the retailer, Andy Street, says: "Sales during both Christmas and clearance have been outstanding."
He added that a major part to this success was the growth of internet sales as the adverse weather conditions drove shoppers to buy through HTML.
