Branding Competition Winner

Posted on Sep 20

Thank you to everyone who sent in their branding stories – all of your websites were to an extremely high standard.

This month we have chosen www.thehenproject.com for demonstrating how corporate consistency and a good logo has resulted in a fantastic website and brand image; "From the very start of The Hen Project we have been conscious of creating and maintaining a strong brand image. Central to this was the creation of our eye catching and unique logo. We wanted our logo to appeal to our target market (hens and brides-to-be) as a fun, girly, but easy-to-use service.

We have been inspired by brands such as Innocent smoothies who's simple, funky and user friendly branding really appealed to us.

The logo appears in the homemade header on our Mr Site website, as well as out e-newsletter, twitter profile, address labels, business cards etc. and we often receive compliments about it.

When we tell people that we created our website using Mr Site and had no previous experience, they can't believe it! We are especially proud that we created the website and logo for under £250. A true credit crunch start up."

Weird and wacky competition winner

Posted on May 3

Thank you to everyone who submitted their stories to us. We've seen some great out-of-the-ordinary websites and following this month's theme, our winner is stamp recycler Laura Wellington:

"Stamp geek came about while I was studying at university – it all began when my very special grandmother left me a very special collection of stamps in her will and for a long time I didn't know what to do with them. But then I decided to incorporate the collection into my designing and began to create hats using stamps.

I went to university in Leeds and almost immediately the local boutiques showed an interest, so I started Mr Site website as a cheap and easy way to get my business going.

Roll on three years and now my hats are stocked all over the country. They are a funky, fashionable and comfortable item that can be worn with almost anything and because the hats are made using real stamps each one is unique, collectable and individual."

Don't Stop Now

Posted on Apr 1

If you still have a credit crunch story to tell, please don't stop sending them to

stories@mrsite.co.uk

Tell us yours and you could end up like Rebecca Pegg - www.cakesbyrebecca.net - who can be seen on page 21 of Woman's Own (6th April) alongside Mr Site's co-founder Beatrice Hatherley. In an article discussing the mousewives phenomenon, Rebecca explains how she set up her own business:

"I used to work in a cake shop and always loved the creative side of baking. I was already doing it as a hobby and I'd look in cake shops and think, "I can do that!" So I decided to give my own business a go... The money has been a godsend. And working from home means I can still take my kids to school myself."

We're always on the look-out for more case studies... so don't stop now!
